Inspiration – Visual Art
“On-line Art Galleries”
When the Internet first came into being in the late 1990’s I was excited. The perils of typing reports on MS Word, was one thing. The idea of finding a world of resources on almost any subject was far more compelling.
At first, the system was slow and often frustrating. It often took several minutes just to upload one picture. But I, like millions of others was trying to be patient, hoping for the system to become more streamlined. And over the next quarter of a century, it blossomed like a flower.
Not only can we hear and watch a variety of videos, listen to music, audiobooks, podcasts, etc., but for most with access to a wifi source, these tasks can be done “on demand” in a matter of seconds.
For on-line art, resolution is a major factor in our viewing experience. The number of pixels in a picture and the color pallets have improved to such an extent that in many cases we can enlarge pictures to see the finest details, including the actual brushstrokes produced by the artists own hands.
I for one, am a big fan of art galleries and museums of art. I have been in many all across the United States and a few overseas, as well. It is like fine dining in a five star restaurant. I take my time, savoring each piece of art that catches my eye. I consider the composition, the artists’ mediums, (materials involved in the making of their art). I try to determine how the paints were mixed and applied.
Any day is a good day to get out and explore the world of visual art. Today, we have access to so much by way of our Internet looking glass. Over the past ten years or so, I have bookmarked several dynamic collections. Some are museum based and some are simply on-line collections, usually of one or a small group of featured artists.
Below I am going to provide you with links to some of these superb showcases:
